The Benefits Of Breathwork On Gay Vacations
Home » Articles » The Benefits Of Breathwork On Gay Vacations Go Back

Retreat-style gay vacations often include activities like yoga, meditation, and breathwork. Though many people are familiar with the first two practices, they may not have heard of the third. When combined with meditation or used in psychotherapy, different methods of consciously altering breathing are classified as breathwork.

Proponents of this technique believe that it enables an individual to achieve an alternate state of consciousness. They promote the continued practice of breathwork in order to achieve psychological or spiritual benefits. Pranayamas in yoga and Tibetan tantric tummo are considered by many to be forms of breathwork. Practices like qigong and tai chi also incorporate conscious breathing, merging the inhale and exhale.

Modern therapies focused on breathing were developed in the 1970s. The human potential movement and psychotherapies influenced these. Breathwork techniques used today have their roots in the practices of Stanislav Grof, Jim Leonard, and Leonard Orr. The style used by Orr was based on conscious connected breathing, while Grof included hyperventilation in his practice.

During recent decades, other forms of breathwork have surfaced, such as shamanic, transformational, and integrative. Practitioners state that breathwork is a fundamental aspect of our physical bodies. They claim that proper, effective breathing helps us care for our bodies and improve our health. Systema, a Russian martial art, uses breathwork to relax and control tension as well as the cardiovascular system. Students are able to calm their mind and regulate body tension.

Some people receive more benefits from breathwork than others but everyone can use it to improve focus. Altering breathing is considered relaxing by some people and the more basic forms should not cause unease because hyperventilation is not included. A skilled practitioner can lead students on an amazing breathwork experience during a gay tours relaxation retreat. We can each benefit from a deep inhale, relaxation, and released exhale to release our troubles.
